The Real Story behind his dismissal
Back in April 2010, the band parted ways with guitar player Scott Caston.
Over the past few months, it has brought to our attention, a number things which he states about him quitting Sanctuary, which unfortunately is nowhere near the truth. In all the years the band has been performing,
we've never had to post anything about ex band members on our web site before, however, the band has been undergoing day to day slander from Mr. Scotty C, and the band feels that you should all know the true reasons why Scott is now an
ex-guitar player, and it's simply because of problems he himself caused for not minding his own business, and as far as this page goes, if Scotty C would just knock off his bullshit,
he could spare himself not only further damage to his credibility, but to himself as a person amongst his community.
First, let us just say that if Scotty C was so great, or the "PRIMARY SOUND" of SANCTUARY like he claims or thinks in his head, why isn't Bobby Leatherlungs, or any other members of Sanctuary following in his footsteps?
Well it seems Mr. Scotty C finds it necessary to put some delusional version of the truth on his various web pages, so we'll
be more than happy to show you whose a "LIAR", a "THIEF" and who actually got "BLIND SIDED" behind the scenes.
We really wish we didn't have to do this, as we had hoped Scott would just move on with his life, but apparently he admits no fault on his part,

so now read on how Scotty C's various antics got him dissmissed from the band.
Back in January 2010, Sanctuary did a show with Kiss Alive at the Chance Theater. Kiss Alive was being filmed for a reality TV shoot, and one of the road crew, left a jacket on a table where our wives and girl friends were at.
Turns out, at the end of the night, Scotty C found the jacket on the table, and decided to steal it for his own "SELF GAINS". The jacket had a sweater, a hat, a scarf and a set of keys with a car alarm remote.
We told Scott don't do that man, leave the jacket with lost and found.
He chose not to listen and the following email comes in to the band. Click on each email photo to enlarge.
So now it turns out, Marty Young had to leave his car at the Chance, get a ride back to his home in New Paltz, and break into his house in the middle of winter, all because Scotty C chose to be a"GRIMY, LOW LIFE THIEF", and make the band look bad on his part. Mark sends Scott an email that the owner is looking for his jacket, and here's the proof that Scott took it.
Now recently, we called out Scotty C on this, and here's what he says below:
Now does any of what Scott says make sense? if it wasn't for that kind moment of him taking Mr. Young's coat, he would have never got it back? how about if Mark didn't point out to Scott that hey, the jacket you stole from the Chance, the owner is looking for it. Either way, we don't care how drunk you get. If it's mid winter, and you step outside, I'm sure cold weather will remind that you left your coat inside. Next, how could Mr. Young leave early without his car keys? why didn't Scott leave the coat at the Chance box office or at the bars lost and found? He's a 46 year old man that should have know better, but it looks as if his "SELF GAINS" as he would put it, stood in the way of better judgement
Scott's going to try and lie his way out of this to make himself look good, but then upon looking over photos from the show we came across the following below, a photo of Scott wearing the guys coat, and getting his nasty, after show B.O., all up in someone elses personal property. Hey bro, leave it with me and it'll be safe huh? You can believe what ever you'd like from Scott, but his email acknowledges he had that coat in his possession, and his big "I got him bro, especially after he said it was sentimental", only further shows, he had every intention on keeping the guys coat if nothing got mentioned. We still can't get over how he made the guy drive from New Paltz NY to Maybrook NY to get his coat back.
now keep in mind, Scotty's coat stealing incident happened January 2010. In February, Scotty C had a total "JEALOUSY MELTDOWN". Bobby had just released a Morbid Sin CD, and Mark sent an email concerning Maximum Capacity. Some of Scotty's jealousy fit was over something regarding Mark running Sanctuary, and Mark trying to avoid canceling a show on short notice. His jealous fit continued into March which you'll see shortly.
So now for the month of March, Scotty C had been stalking Bobby online since Bobby's Morbid Sin CD release, and just looking for reasons to get him kicked out of the band, all because Bobby was putting some time into promoting his CD release. Scott was told numerous times, just leave Bobby alone, he's not taking off for a major tour, but Scotty C just couldn't resist writing to him. So now check out this JEALOUS, TWO FACED email he sends to Bobby from his You Tube account March 30, 2010. This was an email forwarded from Bobby to Mark, the original content was from Scotty C, aka Metalstance07 on You Tube.
Look at Scott's message carefully, the email subject says in Re,Re,Re,Re, TOKYO, so Scotty C had been talking shit for awhile to Bobby, and was being deceptive into trying to make Bobby quit the band. Also, notice how resistant he was towards newer era Maiden songs like Wildest Dreams? that shows he's a big "PHONY", and here Scott is the one who was jealous of Bobby because of his Morbid Sin CD release and wanted him kicked out, and then, Scott turns around and tells Bobby, that Mark and Jimmy are placing ads for singer, and Mark is causing problems??? what kind of a team player does this? how could Scott pretend to be Jimmy's friend if he's selling him out to Bobby about placing ads? Then..... he's telling Bobby, Mark's just playing you about doing that Sabbath era tribute band, an idea that was being considered towards opening shows, but since that was a one guitar player scenario, and Scotty C wasn't really learning any new Maiden songs, this further fueled his "JEALOUSY", towards Bobby and Mark, and in the meantime, Mark was the one that gave Scott a 2nd chance to be back in Sanctuary, took him to Santo Domingo instead of Butch O Leary, helped pay for his passport, and drove his unappreciative, two faced back stabber ass to every Sanctuary show, while transporting Scotts 2 guitars, 2 amps, his footswitch and the bands stage set, and he's got the nerve to talk shit like this? what kind of a friend does this? Anyway, see how Scott ends his email to Bobby, calling him a "FRIEND" ?....now read what he sends Jimmy the very same day below.
See how Scott was stabbing Bobby in the back and then trying to get Mark in trouble with Jimmy? both emails are very clear that Scott was being a "JEALOUS TWO FACE" . Now imagine if you were the one that gave the guy a 2nd chance to return to Sanctuary, and your driving him around to shows, and you come across this stuff, would you want to continue to have him in your band? So there's the reason why he got dropped from the band in April. At the moment, he's just making anything up on his web pages to make himself look good, and trying to portray himself as an innocent victim to people.
Also, it seems Scotty C seems to have some some sort of mental deficiency regarding setlists, and..... how he tries to make things look as though him and Jimmy Peruta were good friends, and left the band together at the same time. So here's an email from Jimmy, after he learned how Scotty C sold him out to Bobby.
See that?, Scotty C got himself officially discontinued from further band discussions, all for being a trouble maker. He's got a lot of nerve trying to post on his You Tube account, about Sanctuary having grimy behind the scenes shit going on, when he himself was the architect of his own stupidity. It's also really sad, that a 46 year old man has to carry on like a bitch on his You Tube account and other web pages, and setting such a bad example for his children by making up all kinds of lies and bullshit about Sanctuary. He's the one who got busted being a "JEALOUS TWO FACE" and acting up with his "ALPHA DOG" personality.
Scott is also exhibiting signs of being a total "CUCKOO", he really thinks in his head, that he's famous for being in a tribute band, for example, anyone that pays any attention to him, he refers to them as his fans, and not his friends. Recently, Tribute City.com, had Sanctuary up as a "FEATURE BAND OF THE WEEK" in early December. Scotty C tried twisting it around on his web pages, and taking credit as though the band got recognized because of him, meanwhile he's been out of the band over 6 months. Check out this post he put up on December 17th, 2010.
Scotty C is also trying to take credit for Santo Domingo, as though it was his talent that got Sanctuary to go, and the truth is, the band got asked and hired to go in October 2008, and Butch O Leary was still on guitar at the time. Mr. Scotty C, didn't start playing in the band until mid November 2008, so how was it possible that it was his "supposed talent" that got the band to go?.... it's cause he's a total "CUCKOO" Mark is good friends with the promoter that brought them out there, and was the one who delivered a presskit for the band to go, something of which Scotty C contributed nothing towards making, and contributed "ZERO" involvement towards delivering it. If you read his You Tube channel description, you'll see his total arrogance about himself. He also leaves arrogant comments on peoples pages to where the band was receiving flak, and when you tell him about it, he gives a total "DICK RESPONSE", instead of doing the right thing and clear things up. Scotty C even left a comment on a McBrain Damage You Tube video for the song Rainmaker, where he said "They Suck" "they're just copying us", and Scott didn't have a clue that Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden is the drummer of McBrain Damage.
Overall, Scott did nothing to help find musicians for this tribute band over the years, and he pretty much just wanted to walk into a ready made Iron Maiden Tribute band without doing any work to help find musicians. He himself admits on his You Tube Channel page " I told Mark to find some serious musicians and then call me up and I'll check it out", so in other words, Mark..... do all the work while I sit back on my "LAZY F'KIN ASS" and not help you out with auditions, and then if they're kick ass musicians, I'll pull a.... I'm a co founding member of Sanctuary and talk shit about you behind the scenes. "TEAMWORK IS GOLDEN" RIGHT SCOTTY ???, he might as well have asked for a drum roll and red carpet rolled out for him while he was at it,......... for if and when he ever showed up to practice.
For anyone that wants to be involved in a band situation with this guy, better think twice, he's unstable, and a very ungrateful person. He gave 5 bucks for gas to be driven from Newburgh NY to New Hope PA and back, didn't pay for show flyers, didn't pay to renew Iron Maiden tribute.com or the web site server costs. We even helped Scott get a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt at 1/2 price when we first arrived in Santo Domingo, because he didn't have any money on him, and when he got paid at the end of the night, he took advantage and didn't reimburse.
other problems started to occur in working with Scotty C, one called"LAZINESS" Scotty C, had more than 10 days notice to change his guitar strings and have his act down pat, but he chose to not come through and broke a string on song # 2 in front of a sold out crowd. Here's a performance photo, where people are pointing and laughing at him, saying "HOLY MOTHER" this guy doesn't have his act together.
Now here's the video, and see for yourself, at around 1:40, look on the left and see whose standing around like a lost little puppy. Right after the string break occurs, the spotlight shines momentarily right on Scott, and the look on his face says it all....the look of "SHAME AND EMBARASSMENT". Mark, the guy Scotty C seems to keep slandering on a daily basis, mans up and plays his solo for him since he didn't have his act together. Watch who it is that's digging into his pockets for an allen wrench, and scrambling around like an amatuer trying to fix the problem, all while his equipment lets off a dog awful howl since he just couldnt lower his volume and get it together on the side. We can at least say this, present guitarist Ivan Cisternas, has seen this video, and has more than 3 guitars to avoid something like this from happening.
Later in the same show, the band went on break and Mark went back to the hotel to bring the guy a set of strings that he made no effort to change, and then later in the show, he breaks another string on Fear of the Dark.
Other areas where Scotty C is "NOT" a team player
- Scotty C, simply put, is "LAZY". The guy was given a full version guitar PC program with over 78 Iron Maiden guitar tabs, and the guy never installed it. The program is so easy to use, a 5th grader could rock better than he could on it. It has a simplistic easy to read interface, where the songs guitar tab displays while the song is playing, and if you can't read tab, there's a guitar neck button that you can push, and red lights will display where to play the songs. So he pretty much had something that was just short of picking up his hands and placing them on the neck of the guitar for him. and for whatever reason, he just wasn't "MAN ENOUGH" to handle it.
- Next, Scotty C lacks "COMMON SENSE". He refuses to accept the fact that Iron Maiden has had new albums out since 2000, and tries talking shit that Mark dictates songs, doesn't allow freewill or whatever, but watch how simple "COMMON SENSE" is. What's the drinking age to get into a bar? 21 correct? how old would you say that person might have been to hear Iron Maiden? 13 maybe 14? suppose they were 14, 21 minus 14 equals 7 correct? what's 2010 minus 7? 2003 correct? what Iron Maiden albums were out in 2003? Brave New World? Dance of Death? Scotty C is too much of a "CLOSED MINDED IDIOT" to accept this concept. The guy would lie to fans in their faces, like when they asked for Caught Somewhere in Time, he'd say "It's coming" and yet no effort was made on his part towards making that happen. In fact, that's why he got "FIRED" in 2001, and to this day, almost 10 years later, Scotty C still doesn't know how to play Caught Somewhere in Time, an all-time fan favorite amongst the Iron Maiden fanclub community.
- Scotty wants to act like a leading authority on Iron Maiden, yet he's not a member of the official Iron Maiden fanclub, something of which only costs $10.00 dollars a year to be a part of, and Scotty C never signed up ever. The guy only saw Maiden once his whole life and that was during the Somewhere Back in Time tour. This is known as being a "PHONY"
- On his live performances, Scotty C is a "VOLUME HOG". He seems to find it necessary to be louder than the rest of the band. This had been pointed out at several shows which include, Cook's Cafe, The Keltic House, Triumph Brew and more. Through this selfish lack of consideration, he tries to draw the attention of the audience to himself only. He wants people to believe that he's "SHREDDING" when in reality, he's hurting peoples ears, and all he's really doing is "SQUEALING" on his guitar as though he were Zakk Wylde instead of playing his guitar as laid back as Dave Murray does. This "SQUEALING" he does, ends up ruining guitar harmony parts on songs like Revelations and others, because he refuses to understand that he's changing the pitch of the notes he's playing, then when you throw in his "VOLUME HOGGING" he makes the guitar harmonies almost non existant. Bottom line: Iron Maiden is supposed to have complimenting guitar harmonies, but Mr. "VH" Caston doesn't seem to understand or accept this concept. Then at shows where the band brings a P.A. system, the P.A. feedsback, why is this ??? Because Mr. "VOLUME HOG" refuses to turn his equipment down to reduce the feedback. Then during the course of the show, Scott will selfishly start jerking around on his footswitch and starts turning up his volume again, to where the singer can't be heard by the middle of the bands set. "CASE IN POINT", here's a video of Losfer Words, watch the guy on the left, at 3:40 there's nothing wrong the song volume wise, but then at around 3:47, watch who stomps on his footswitch's volume pedal, for just a simple routine 3 repeated notes, and then he lands on a sour note. Right after his unnecessary mistake, he hits his footswitch volume again, and ends the song with a "SQUEAL" as if he thinks he's Zakk Wylde. That mistake he made could have easily been avoided, had he just stayed away from his footwitch, but as you can see, he wanted to be a stand out "VOLUME HOG".
-Another problem is that Scotty C, doesn't seem to want to "EVOLVE" as a musician to better his guitar playing, and just seems to want to hold the band back from delivering newer material to the fans. For those of you who followed Sanctuary over the years, you've seen the band perform the likes of songs such as Wildest Dreams, El Dorado, Rainmaker, Dance of Death, Different World, The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg and the Longest Day, all of which minus Wildest Dreams, are songs that Scotty C doesn't have a clue how to play, and just simply avoids learning in an effort to put the band back where it once was. During the spring & summer months, he claimed his lawn care service and scrap metal recycling, prevented him from having time to go over anything new, then when winter comes, snow removal becomes his the next excuse. However, in working with Scott over the years and more so, in the last 15 months since rejoining the band, he's shown us a big contributing factor that the band feels is what's truly affecting his ability to go over new music, it's called "SMOKING WEED". It's one thing if you smoke weed and can handle your responsibilities to be in a band, but when 15 months goes by, and no effort is made to get newer era Maiden songs down, or play the correct Dave Murray solos to Alexander the Great and Rime of the Ancient Mariner, you begin to wonder what the hold up is, and when that certain individual, disappears at the end of a show to engage his habit, and not help the rest of the guys pack up gear, this also makes you wonder.
-When it was pointed out to Scotty C, how other Maiden tributes are playing songs like Caught Somewhere in Time, Ghenghis Khan and more, Scotty C found it necessary to criticize the guitar playing of the IRON MAIDENS (all female tribute to Iron Maiden), yet the truth is there's 3 women on guitar that know more songs than he does. All he had to do, was type in "THE IRON MAIDENS" right on "YOU TUBE", and there's numerous videos of the songs he doesn't know on guitar, where the girls could show him how it's done since he wasn't "MAN ENOUGH" to handle his responsibilities to get the job done. He "MAN'S UP" for Sanctuary, by letting 3 women blow away his guitar playing. This once again is because Scotty C was too lazy wanting his free will, and doesn't want to "EVOLVE" for the sake of Sanctuary or it's fans. Back in July 2010, the Real Iron Maiden performed songs like No More Lies, Benjamin Breeg, These Colours Don't Run and Ghost of the Navigator, these are also songs that Scotty C doesn't know how to play on his guitar. In fact, Mr. "BIG" Iron Maiden fan that he claims to be, didn't even attempt to buy $20.00 dollar lawn seats to see the show. Scotty C why don't you "MAN UP", and bust out your web cam on your YOU TUBE channel, and show us these songs ??? yeah... keep hiding behind your computer screen.
-When it comes to Scotty C's playing, what he likes to do is hide behind the use of delay, to mask up the fact that his picking technique is not up to par. For anyone that's a musician reading this, Scotty C can't even play to a metronome or a click track at slow speed to get his playing together. As far as any other bullshit Scott wants to say about who plays what guitar solos, Mark completely conformed and worked around Scott's incapabilities, to get certain solos to sound right. Scotty C also seems to forget, there's been other guitar players that came into the band knowing different parts and solos that had to be worked around. So Scott came back to Sanctuary playing the exact same 27 songs he knew, played the exact same way he did back in 2001. So again, no effort was made on his part in 15 months, to get things correct. He wants to say he has "HOURS OF STUDY" of the Dave Murray technique, yet why can't he do solos to Alexander the Great and Rime of the Ancient Mariner ??? because he's incapable.
- finally, according to his You Tube channel page, Scotty C claims to be a co founding member of Sanctuary since 1998. See the newspaper clip from the Times Herald Record, down below. Please Note: Sanctuary played out in August 1997 (see the right hand corner), and this was a gig where Scotty C was "NOT" a member of the band. How could he be a co founder of a band he was not a member of? simply put, he's a "LIAR" and a "CUCKOO". Remember his You Tube Channel page we mentioned earlier? I told Mark to do all the work and when you find musicians call me up.... yeah ok Scotty !!! what does that tell you about him? that's why Sanctuary played out numerous times without him, and his first real show with Sanctuary was in New Paltz June 2001, and then he got fired by ex band members the following year.
This now concludes what we have to say about this matter concerning Scott Caston. We brought our hard evidence to the table to show why he's no longer a member of the band, and as you can see, he's just disgruntled and making up lies and bullshit on his web pages. Scotty, do you know what song # 3 is on Dance of Death ??? hint, you should learn it on your guitar, and it's what you should stop doing.
